Dayo Amusa shares HIV test result to quash rumours

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has publicly released her HIV test result in a bid to silence persistent rumours linking her to the virus.

The controversy was triggered after a content creator, Olaoluwa Segun, published a video naming Amusa among five Nigerian actors allegedly living with HIV.

Responding on social media, the actress dismissed the claim as “false and malicious,” recalling that she had in 2019 disclosed her HIV-negative status as part of a public campaign to promote awareness and testing.

She explained that her earlier post was never an admission of infection but rather an attempt to encourage Nigerians to “know their status.”

Amusa, who described the allegation as damaging to her reputation, also threatened legal action against Segun for circulating unverified information.

On Tuesday, the actress shared a photo of her most recent HIV test result on Instagram, reaffirming she is not infected.

Alongside the document, Amusa urged her fans and the general public to embrace regular HIV testing.

“I still feel the need to encourage individuals to get tested and know their HIV status. It is better to know your status so that you can guide yourself and save others, too,” she wrote.

The episode has once again spotlighted the dangers of online defamation and the spread of unverified health claims against public figures.
